Never tried sushi? Hung up on the “curry” smell, and haven’t enjoyed chicken tikka and a lassi?
Then please, don’t leave the US.
I don’t want someone who perpetually says, ” oh, I don’t really like exotic foods…” representing me in a foreign country.
Somewhere along the way I’ve read that you have to try something 3 times before you can develop a firm opinion. Even if you’ve given enchiladas verde a chance three times at three different places and you know you don’t like it, then, fine, order something else, with a smile.
But really, who wants to be friends with someone who is like, “ummm, actually, I don’t like any Chinese food…. No, not Thai/Indian/Spanish/Japanese/Greek/Southern…. Um, no I hate cheese on my pizza… I really like salads and deli sandwiches!”
Ugh. Boring. Insulting to entire cultures! And at the end of the day, you’re doing a disservice to yourself; you are simply stunting your personal growth. Booyah, take yo’ hand out the fries and TRY something new!
